Faculty and Student Mobility Grant

The SEARCA Faculty and Student Mobility Grant enables recipients to conduct their research work or take courses for credit in selected Southeast Asian universities, be exposed to new technologies and receive training from world-class academicians.

Eligibility

Faculty Mobility Grant

  • Open to nationals of SEAMEO member countries who are regular employees of academic institutions
  • Must have ongoing research related to SEARCA's overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN). These include the following priority areas:
    • Agri-Business Models for Increased Productivity and Income
    • Sustainable Farming Systems and Natural Resource Management
    • Food and Nutrition Security
    • Transformational Leadership for Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD)
    • Gender and Youth Engagement in ARD
    • Enhanced ARD towards Climate Resilience
    • EcoHealth/One Health Applications to ARD

Student Mobility Grant

  • Open to nationals of SEAMEO member countries who are ongoing graduate students in Southeast Asian universities.
  • The applicants' areas of specialization must be related to SEARCA's overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN). These include the following priority areas:
    • Agri-Business Models for Increased Productivity and Income
    • Sustainable Farming Systems and Natural Resource Management
    • Food and Nutrition Security
    • Transformational Leadership for Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD)
    • Gender and Youth Engagement in ARD
    • Enhanced ARD towards Climate Resilience
    • EcoHealth/One Health Applications to ARD
  • Must not be more than 45 years of age at the time of application

Host Institution

Priority will be given to applicants who will conduct their mobility at any one of the following universities under the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources:

Application Procedure

  1. Duly accomplished application form
  2. Research/thesis outline identifying the fund sources, proposed activities at the host university and laboratory facilities and equipment needed in the conduct of his/her research project
  3. A letter of confirmation from the faculty at the host university to supervise the student's research
  4. Approved research outline and endorsement from thesis adviser and the Dean of the Graduate School for students; endorsement from Department Chair and Dean of the College/Faculty for lecturers/faculty members
  5. If mobility is to take courses for credit, an admission from the host university and list of courses to be enrolled as endorsed by the adviser at the home university is required
  6. Certification or proof of financial support from other sources, if any

Conditions and Requirements for Disbursement of Grant

  • The grantee may be supported by the grant up to one (1) semester.
  • At the end of the grant period, the faculty/student must submit to SEARCA a report on the research or activity that they conducted at the host university.
  • The fund for the plane ticket will be released on reimbursement basis upon submission of valid receipts as proof of purchase
  • The stipend will be released and deposited to the grantee through his/her bank account upon arrival at the host university
