Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC)

The University Consortium (UC) Student Travel Grant for Credit provides limited amount of funds for the UC graduate student to spend a semester in another participating UC university and take courses for credit to his/her program.

Who may apply for the Travel Grant for Credit

Any interested graduate student from any of the following participating members of the Southeast Asian University Consortium may apply for the UC Student Travel Grant for Credit:

  • Institut Pertanian Bogor, Indonesia
  • Universitas GadjahMada, Indonesia
  • Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia
  • Kasetsart University, Thailand
  • University of the Philippines Los Baños, Philippines
  • Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan
  • Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia

Conditions of the Grant

  • Applications for cross-enrollment to any of the UC member universities to attend courses must be covered by an agreement on credit transfer whenever applicable between the sending and the receiving universities.
  • The cross-enrollment period may be for one or two semesters, however, financial support from the UC will be limited to one semester (up to five months) only. In the case of a two-semester cross enrollment, the graduate student should look for additional funds/sponsors to cover the expenses during the other semester and submit proof of financial support upon application for a UC Travel Grant for Credit.
  • Financial support for this grant program includes round-trip economy class airplane ticket and monthly stipend of US$500/month for a maximum of five months.
  • The graduate student is obliged to submit to the UC Coordinator of his/her university through the UC Secretariat (SEARCA) a full report of his/her program activities at the host university, and immediately return to his mother university upon completion of the engagement period stated in the award letter. He/she is also required to notify the UC Coordinator and the Secretariat in writing of the date of his/her arrival at the study post and to submit to the UC Coordinator a duly certified grade report for each of the courses cross-enrolled in.

Application requirements

The following should be submitted to the UC Coordinatorof his/her University:

  • Duly accomplished UC Student Travel Grant for Credit Application Form.
  • Application letter addressed to the UC Coordinator, indicating the reasons for cross-enrollment, duly endorsed by the UC graduate student's advisory committee and the Dean of Graduate School.
  • Copy of plan of course work and timetable indicating courses to be cross-enrolled at the chosen university, duly approved by the graduate student’s advisory committee and the Dean of Graduate School.
  • Duly accomplished application form for cross-registration at the university of cross-enrollment.
  • Certification or proof of financial support from other sources, if any.

Conditions and requirements for disbursement of grant

  • The fund for the plane ticket will be released to the graduate student via bank transfer or reimbursement basis upon submission of valid receipts as proof of purchase.
  • The monthly stipend will be released to the student through his/her bank account upon arrival at the host university.
