LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA, Philippines—The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) kicks off its 18th Annual Photo Contest with the theme The Future of Farming: Pathways to Carbon-Neutral Agriculture, today (18 November 2024). The photo contest aims to find the best images most relevant to the theme aside from its technical quality and impact.
SEARCA is looking for creative images that depict the innovations and solutions to the many issues and problems being faced by a Southeast Asian farmer in a sustainable and environment-friendly manner. The photo should have a caption, in English, of no more than 100 words to explain the meaning behind the photo.
Winners of the photo contest will receive the following awards and prizes: First Prize (USD 1,000), Second Prize (USD 800), Third Prize (USD600), SEARCA Director's Choice (USD 500), Philippine Department Education Secretary's Choice (USD 500), Best Youth Photographer (USD 300, and the People's Choice Award (USD 300). The People's Choice Award will be determined through Facebook voting.
The competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers of any age from Southeast Asia. They should be citizens of the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Vietnam.
Contestants can submit as many original photos as they like for as long as these meet the photo contest specifications. Photo submissions should not have been digitally altered or enhanced, have not won in any past photo competition, or have not been published elsewhere (print or electronic).
