TAIPEI, Taiwan—The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) reaffirmed its commitment in furthering agricultural development in Southeast Asia by renewing its partnership with the National Taiwan University (NTU) International College for the Global Agriculture Technology and Genomic Science (Global ATGS) program on 31 October 2023. The NTU-SEARCA Joint Scholarship Program for Global ATGS aims to empower Southeast Asian scholars by pursuing graduate studies under the Master Program in Global ATGS. The 36th Executive Board Meeting of the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC) took place on 30-31 October 2023 and was hosted by the National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. Delegates from regular member institutions attended the meeting including Kasetsart University (KU) in Thailand, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), IPB University (IPB), and Universitas Brawijaya (UB) all from Indonesia, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). (Unilab), the leading pharmaceutical company in the Philippines, conducted a half-day Seminar on Health and Financial Literacy for Smallholder Farmers held on 16 October 2023 at the SEARCA Drilon Hall. Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) educators and practitioners from six countries have completed a blended course on climate-smart villages (CSV), which was jointly conducted by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) in September 2023 via Zoom and onsite in the Philippines. Dr. Pheak Sothea, deputy director general for administration, Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, Cambodia, paid a courtesy visit to the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) on 9 October 2023.
