ASEAN arm SEARCA has supported the development of organized and skilled farmers that now form part of Grow Asia, a farm production partnership platform that’s benefitting 117,000 smallholders in coconut, coffee, corn, fisheries, and vegetables. The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (Searca) said Grow Asia, through its Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Development (PPSD), is helping Filipino farmers improve their skills and hike their output. Searca said PPSD is a farm partnership model that’s benefiting 117,000 smallholders in coconut, coffee corn, fisheries and vegetables. Los Baños, Laguna—The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity have agreed to continue cooperating on programs that will mainstream biodiversity in agriculture. In a memorandum of understanding signed on November 4, 2019, the two international organizations agree to carry on their collaboration to pursue their common objective of building capacities of the ASEAN Member States in biodiversity conservation as it relates to agriculture and food. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research and Agriculture (SEARCA) recently hosted a session on the regional implications of the Philippines' Rice Tariffication Law. The Research Symposium was part of the 11th World Rice Conference organized by The Rice Trader (TRT).
