This issue of SABRAO highlights the history of plant breeding in Russia as well as the evolution of some crops in Amu Darya in Uzbekistan. There are analyses of several crops such as maize, rice, wheat among others toward drought-, heat-, and saline tolerance as well as aphid resistance. There are health-related breeding studies such as markers associated with anticancer compound in rodent tuber mutant; phenolic, flavonoid, and anthocyanin content in Russian potato; and antibacterial compounds in cumin. Some studies focused on the effect of management practices on crops such as use row spacing on safflower; nitrogen and timing of application on peanuts; nutrient and growing media on cabbage. These topics and dozens more update its readers on the world of plant breeding and genetics in Asia and Oceania.
