This workshop will be held in response to recommendations arising from the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High Policy Level Dialogue on Agricultural Biotechnology meeting in Sapporo last year, during which the importance of strategic communication to enable biotechnology acceptance was highlighted as a priority item. The many stakeholders involved inbiotechnology require that their distinctive needs and concerns be addressed through science-based communication. The messages must also be customized for each stakeholder group. This seminar-workshop is being organized to allow experience sharing and leveling-up of the skills and knowledge in stakeholder-targeted communication. The theory, principles, and techniques in risk communication will also be discussed during the meeting. |
