(Fee-based)
This learning event aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the objectives, utility, and impact that the use of technology can have in agricultural development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also aims to provide participants with a practical, relevant framework to apply participatory and principled approaches to incorporate and leverage ICTs and digital tools to meet agricultural development goals and improve outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. It will focus on the application of new and advanced technologies, ag-tech solutions and tools and how these can be embedded in the agricultural value chain to improve productivity and food security as well as make better, appropriate and informed decisions.
This learning event comprises five modules with each module providing a step-by-step introduction to the integration of ICTs into agricultural development with a focus on hands-on knowledge acquisition and sharing. Each module will also include an introduction to relevant foundational knowledge that will provide an entry point whereby technologies such as mobile phones, sensors, drones and tablets, and the services and interventions that leverage them in agriculture, can be designed and deployed to address challenges in agricultural production systems.
