(Indonesia), Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Education (University of the Philippines Los Baños)

Dissertation Abstract:

Higher education plays a significant role in preparing and providing graduate with sufficient understanding and knowledge to meet the challenges of climate change.

The main objective of this study was to analyze the integration of Climate Change topics into the BSA with crop-based major curricula in three selected universities in Southeast Asia. Specifically, the study was conducted to: 1) describe the profile of the selected universities; 2) discuss the process of integration of climate change in the curriculum; 3) construct the Index of Integration of Climate Change into the curriculum; and 4) recommend a climate change-responsive BSA curriculum in South-East Asia.

The study conducted in three selected universities in Southeast Asia. The data were analyzed through various statistical techniques. Multivariate Analysis (Exploratory Factor Analysis) was used to get the Index Score Computation, that gives the Index of Integration of Climate Change for each university and for the three universities.

Using the Principal Component Analysis, the study founded three dimensions/components that influence the Index of Integration of Climate Change into the curriculum (iIOCC), namely, Program and Curriculum Dimension, Organizational Dimension, and Academic Staff Dimension. It revealed that the Program and Curriculum Component composed of Program Specification and Program Structure and Content, is the most sensitive to the iIOCC.
