Management Efforts for Situ Babakan Lake Development as a Sustainable Agrotourism Area in DKI Jakarta Province

Abstract:

 

The Situ Babakan Lake has been assigned as one of the tourist destinations in DKI Jakarta province as it is located inside the area for the development of the Betawi Cultural Village in South Jakarta. A study has been carried out in the attempt to help the government in developing the Lake as an agrotourism area. The objectives of the study were to (1) investigate the water quality of the Lake, and (2) gather the perception on the Lake from the people who live in the vicinity of the Lake and from the visitors during the conduct of the study. It was concluded from this study that (a) Situ Babakan Lake has a good potential to be developed as an agrotourism area because of its good water quality; and (b) the Lake deserves to be professionally and sustainably developed as agrotourism area in DKI Jakarta based on the knowledge, perception, opinion, and behavior of the people who live in the vicinity and visitors of the Lake.
