Study on Longline Ship Display in South Kalimantan

(Indonesia), Master of Science in Fishing Technology (Bogor Agricultural University)

Abstract:

The purpose of the research was to evaluate the aspects to be perfected in order to achieve good fishing ship and to develop rehabilitation of both the traditional and the fishing ship design system in South Kalimantan. The results of the research were expected to serve as reference in ship designs to develop fishing ship in Indonesia, and as data for connected agencies that have an interest to develop the shipping industry.

The research was carried out in two locations: Pagaruyung and Batulicin villages, Kota Baru, South Kalimantan. Data analyses were carried out by naval architecture calculation to obtain hydrostatic parameter and PGZ program to see the stability of fishing ship tested until 4 m wave height and PGZ area was calculated until the standard value of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) was satisfied.

Calculation result of the long ship examined had not yet satisfied the standard value of Inamura (1982). The design obtained was not appropriate to the existing standard, which can be seen from the main ratio value (L/B, L/D, and B/D) and coefficient of fineness value.

Calculation result of the four wave conditions using PGZ program (area value [A, B, C], GZ max. [D, E]), and metacenter height [F]) showed that the stability of the longline ship, both static and dynamic, was above the standard value of IMO even though the wave height was formulated at 4m.

The values variation of KG (3.00, 3.10, 3.20, 3.30, 3.40, 3.50, 3.60, 3.70, and 3.80 m) of the longline ship showed that as the KG value increases, GM value of the ship decreases.
