Attitudes of Cooperators Toward Community Development Program in a Philippine Rural Village
Thesis Abstract:
The study aimed to find out the attitudes of cooperators toward the Rural Extension Action for Community Health (REACH) program, a community development program implemented by Siliman University in Barangay (village) Magsaysay, Dauin, Negros Oriental, Philippines.
The respondents of the study consisted of 42 cooperators of the REACH Program and 47 non-cooperators who were resideing in Barangay Magsaysay at the time the study was conducted. Data were gathered through personal interview, using structured questionnaires.
Of the nine variables describing the socioeconomic characteristics of the cooperators, only the level of education was found to be related to their attitudes toward the development program. The chi-square test showed highly significant relationships at 0.01 level. The findings also showed that the non-cooperator respondents were fully aware of the existence of the facilities and services of the REACH program.
