The success of Thailand in agriculture and rural development is said to be the result of commitment of  government leaders, innovation, and efficiency that lead to productivity, competitiveness, and prosperity; technology transfer that has been mainly private-sector driven; clear and simple policy; and human resources. With regards to human resources, the universities are deemed as the largest contributor to agricultural and rural development (ARD) in this Asian country.
